Bike paths evolve each year - hopefully for the better. Ask a local for their advice on the safest route through an urban sprawl. No matter what part of Canada you find yourself in, Canadians will help you, even if your French or English skills are rubbish. Pull out a map, scratch your head, look confused and a friendly fixie hipster will be along shortly.

All cities across Canada have begun building bicycle infrastructure — enlarging shoulders, creating off-road paved bike paths, better bike signage. Between cities there are still gaps in bike networks. In only a few provinces there exists provincial-wide organisations that work on improving these networks, such as Vélo Québec, Ontario By Bike™ and Bike BC
